Reporting Abuse

We do not perform investigations or seize neglected animals even though we will assist law enforcement and humane societies within the realm of our mission statement. Report horse abuse to your local sheriff's office or humane society for investigation. They will contact us if our services are needed. Please provide information about our organization if they are not yet familiar with Hay! Neighbor.

Reporting suspected or obvious animal abuse is a difficult decision to make, especially if you know the person. Keep in mind that there are many reasons for an underweight horse such as income loss, illness, or death within the household, or an underlying health problem in the horse. May we suggest that you first provide information about Hay! Neighbor to the horse owner. They may not realize that there are resources available to assist them.

Of course, any malicious abuse, injured horses, or horses in severe situations should be reported to a sheriff or humane society immediately.
